Flabs (Sick Word Eh?) (Flabbergasted)

So this is kinda random and maybe it's just me, but I can't wrap my mind around how someone carves a head, body, or whatever out of stone.
They have such intricate details: the hair, the veins, the soft touch of their skin.
How can one make something so beautiful and perfect by taking a ugly piece of stone and making it a masterpiece?
It amazes me.
